The Canada-Israel Industrial Research and Development Foundation (CIIRDF) stimulates and funds collaborative research and development between companies in both countries, with a focus on the commercialization of new technologies and the creation of long term business and research partnerships.
Mr. Aharon Aharon, CEO of the Israel Innovation Authority, and new Chair of the CIIRDF Board of Directors, delivers a keynote presentation at Technation 2017. Mr. Aharon becomes the sixth Israeli leader to undertake this critical role with CIIRDF within the foundation’s 22-year history.
What Does CIIRDF Do?
Established in 1994 under a formal mandate from the Governments of Canada and Israel, and institutionally connected with each government’s innovation support instruments, CIIRDF:
- Promotes and communicates the strategic and commercial benefits of Canada-Israel R&D collaboration
- Delivers a matchmaking service that brings together Canadian and Israeli companies seeking R&D partners, and helps brokering new technology collaborations
- Financially supports bilateral R&D initiatives that cross many scientific disciplines, technologies and industrial sectors including: biotechnology, agriculture, information and communications technologies, automotive, natural resource management, public safety, and aerospace.
CIIRDF has financed more than 110 bilateral technology partnerships that engage more than 200 Canadian and Israeli companies. These alliances have enabled the joint development, marketing and sales of more than 60 technologically improved new products over the last 20 years. Based on conservative data provided by participating companies, CIIRDF-enabled technologies have generated a minimum of hundreds of millions in economic value for Canadian and Israeli companies alone over the past decade.
