Matchmaking is the process of connecting two or more companies (within one country or from several countries) with complementary R&D, technology or business strengths that aim to explore opportunities for mutually beneficial R&D collaboration or business partnerships. Technology or business matchmaking events, activities and related initiatives provide innovators with the opportunity to gather and exchange information; network with and source potential partners, customers or prospective employees; promote their research, organization or innovation interests; and discuss collaborative R&D or business projects.
Through its matchmaking services, CIIRDF has developed a platform that enables companies to access:
- Relevant technological and market information to stimulate growth and innovation; and
- Technology partners with complementary strengths that help firms to address key R&D challenges and new market opportunities
Over the past few years, CIIRDF has delivered matchmaking services to over 400 firms. The Foundation has recently enhanced its technological matchmaking services to help Canadian companies to develop linkages with suitable Israeli companies and establish R&D collaborations. CIIRDF is leveraging its partnerships with key regional and national organizations to help facilitate the matchmaking process in priority sectors and research areas. This includes brain research and neurotechnology development; water technologies; bio-economy and clean technologies; advanced health technologies; pharmaceutical research and manufacturing; digital media and information and communication technologies; and agri-innovation. CIIRDF often promotes collaboration with key Israeli and Canadian firms to help stimulate R&D cooperation in strategic areas and open-up new market opportunities for participants. CIIRDF also continues to build a comprehensive database of Israeli and Canadian companies and related intelligence to support matchmaking activities.
